It all started so innocently....

...then the rot set in.

Just scrolled back up the page after leaving a message about the Devil and 666 to be confronted by a pic of you from the 70s. God your face looked scary - eyes shot and distant and flaming locks of red hair. It was a shock to the system and I have seen you 1st thing in the morning after a heavy night on red wine.

Also just noticed on another pic that you Dad (I think) has exactly the same hair as you do now.

Fantastic pictures (and a very cool idea)! You with a pipe and the dog in a hat, such a classic.

whatalotoffun: you mean the one of the two puppies together?

coffee addict: Most of those pics were only sent to me yesterday by my brother as a birthday gift. I've not seen them for ages. They are fun. He also sent lots of my grandmother and parents that are run too.

alan: 'flaming locks of red hair'? I've never had red hair apart from bits in my beard. Are you colour blind? You may be right about my hair now being a bit like my father's.

patita: It's a cool link, the slide show. Now you need to do one too.

jp: which one? The pimply one?

HELP! I I've been trying to post for 2 days and I always get stuck. Has anyone also encountered problems with bloggers lately? or is it me?

Anyway, loving the slide show. You were such a cute little boy, you looked so pure and all. When did the big change occur? And I had no idea Camilla Parker Bowles' hairdo was already fashionable in Mozambique '75!

Dashing!

babs: I had a bong, but never owned a lava lamp or a bean bag. However, I do remember being fascinated by the original lava lamps in lighting shops. Could stand outside watching them for ages.

dawn: lots of hair, huh? I wonder how many people have wondered about how 'colonial' some of those pics look? Don't know about showing sequel pics, those shall have to remain secret for a while. :-)

blogfrog: blogger has been a bit erratic and unreliable of late. Are you referring to my mother's hairdo or mine when you compare to Parker Bowles?

Sorry about the red hair comment. The contrast must be out on the monitor. It does look a little red though, not pure blonde.

What a lot of loveliness. (well, of course, except for the "creepy eye socket" shots).

And, yes, why has no one commented on the nanny pictures? I certainly won't - I'd give my left arm to have my old nanny/maid here. Though the Yanks would lynch me for it.

Do you ever miss it? Zim?

qenny: it's a pleasure; in time, more will come.

exafrica:Thanks for popping by. Glad you liked the pics and were reminded of Africa. However, it's Mozambique, not Zim, where they were taken. I miss it a lot but, fortunately, I'll be going back. Alas, not back to Moz, but to South Africa which is where I regard home these days.

Oh silly me. Sorry for the mix up, but they're beautiful pix none the less. For some reason I thought, for sure, that you were a Zimbo (no disrespect intended!)

Going back? Oooh can't wait for the tales that will follow. Though I wonder how you'll find living there after being away???

A great slide show, RN... funny to see the frizzy hairstyle .. do you still have masses of hair?

exafrica: No offence taken. Technically speaking, I haven't left as my home is still there. I've been here on an off for 5 years because I can't get decent work there but will go back as soon as I can. I doubt that I will find it difficult at all but there will be lots that I'll miss about England.

justin: No, its a LOT shorter these days! Unlike all those men from the seventies who persist on wearing their seventies footballer hairstyles (Noel Edmond??), I 'updated' my hairstyle ages ago. :-)

That was great. Thanks for sharing those photos and pieces of your life. I've watched it through twice now and have to say that there are some perfect shots there! Oh, and LOVE the Led Zeppelin hair! ;)

You were the long-forgotten fifth member of Led Zeppelin, weren't you, RN?

Quite sexy, really.

My goodness Nomad! How old are you? Those pics are all black and white! Anyway babe, I have to say that I ADORE the blond afro! I really do! I have to steal that pic.

Blogger Reluctant Nomad said...

LiVEwiRe : Led Zeppelin hair? Pah! Roger Daltrey, you mean!

Moncrief Speaks: Nope, the long-forgotten member of The Who. :-)

Rob7534: 47. Old but not THAT ancient!!! I’m not quite sure why all the family pics were in black and white because colour had been around for a long time at that stage. It may have had something to do with cost, perhaps. I quite like them being in black and white, actually. Many of the colour pics of that area are terribly faded now. Which blond afro one do you adore? The one in colour or the b&w one? What are you going to do with the pic?

8:51 am
Blogger Rob7534 said...

I want them both! And don't ask what I want to do with the pics either! You don't want to know :)
