Why would you want to do drag?
Excerpt from today's email exchange with James:James: What are you watching tonight?
Alan: I don't know what I'll be watching. I owe a blog-reader an interview from months ago - may have a go at getting that done having just finished one yesterday so am still in the mood to do it. If I don't, it will just drag on.
James: Have you ever done drag?
Alan: No, apart from going to two cross-dressing parties but I assume that doesn't count?
James: Same kind of thing, Rocky Horror and parties and stuff. I could see you in drag...maybe we'll have to have a cross dressing
party then.
Alan: Why would you want that?
James: Just for fun; it'd be nice to have hair for a night.

Rocky Horror rules!!!
I can probably quote almost the entire script to you. Please don't ask me to.
Loved your interview with Buddess, b.t.w. You summed her up really well.
Hair tonight, gone tomorrow. Lame, I know, but I couldn't resist.
I watched the Rocky Horror Picture show when it was first released. I cant even remeber what it was all about. I had a vew drag queen friends. It was fun they always came to my house to dress up going through my cupboards to see what they can borrow. and believe me some of them looked so nice that men would try to make a pass at them when they walked by. That was fun days. Gay men are a womens best friend
terri: I think you need to volunteer to be interviewed by Buddess.
kyknoord: 'No hair now, hair tonight, gone tomorrow is a more accurate rendition' of your 'corny phrase' when it comes to those who are not too hairy on top when they choose to don a wig.
whatalotoffun: I was at boarding school when it came out. The county went wild about it but it took a while before it reached the platteland. About 6 months after it had opened in S Africa, it was about to be shown in Barberton where I was at school - the cinema was decorated in the posters advertising its imminent arrival. About two weeks before it opened there, it was banned.
SUCH disappointment!!!!
So I only got to see it quite a few years later. Since then, I've seen it quite a few times.
Great film!
Becareful w/the Drag Nomad! I have at least 2 friends who do drag, and it's an expensive habit! As expensive as a crack habit. Those wigs and costumes cost a fortune!
Nomad, Rob is right. If you get hooked there's no turning back and then your Pricilla Nomad Queen of the Desert! But oh, so much fun. I've been to many an affair and I'll have to get my son to send me some of his drag pics. He looks better in a dress than I ever did. Well, not so much lately cause as he grew older his shoulders really expanded but we loved it. His friends would come over and get in to my make-up. The next thing ya know, I'd be yelling, who took my favorire violet lipstick and I didn't have any girls in the house. No, a house full of flaming queens. I still loved it!
rob & babs: I can assure you that I'm far too much of a slob to ever get pulled into doing drag. Not only do I hate clothes shopping but I'm not fond of anything that smacks of high maintenance.
However, if James were to throw a cross-dressing party, I'd happily go dressed like some glamorous tart. :-)
Babs..nooo! It's Rocky Horror all the way!! COME ON, clearly a better score, and way more fun for costumes!! Plus, you get to do the time warp!!
I know there was a Drew Carry show with a show down between Mimi and Drew and the RHPS and PQD... perhaps that is our fate babs!!
I'm sending a meme to all of you. To celebrate International Drag Day (IDD) on April 18th, let's all post a drag pic of ourselves! Yeah!
Hmmm just don't get into the stilletto's those kill!!!
Ohhh... Frankie! Did I tell you my Tim Curry story? Doh! I did. (Your photos make me think you'd look good in drag, too!)
I have to agree with Xmichra, Nomad but you would surely have fun and you could be...Alana!!WooHoo!! They'll just have to fill you with lots of red wine and then...
Nice blog. Will visit more often here. See ya around :)
Xmichra: The Rocky Horror costumes are great fun. Have you ever got dressed up and gone to the play or to one of those sing-a-long movie screenings? I’ve seen the show (not got dressed up) but haven’t been to one of the sing-a-longs. I seem to recall that the film Fame showed them all going to one. They seem like a lot of fun.
Frog: Is there really such a day? And will you really get a pic of yourself dressed up for the occasion? Actually, knowing you, you will. I’d do the same but I don’t have anything to wear for it unless I go to Michelle’s (Fag-hag, Drama Queen, JAP) and raid her cupboard.
Tammy: Being a true child of the African veld, I prefer to be barefoot as much as possible. Stilettoes don’t appeal to me at all! Talking of which, should you get the opportunity, go see the recent film, Kinky Boots, a very enjoyable story (based on a true story) about a transvestite who encourages a failing shoe factory to make women’s shoes for men.
Andrea: You did tell me the story – great story. I still owe you my Joe Jackson story.
Babs: Me dressed in drag with too much red wine under the belt….mmmm, I wonder what the end of that night would entail?
Imphaldiary: thanks for popping by and please visit more often.
Oh yes indeed! Of course it wasn't drag for me.. but I went to the theatre as Magenta. it was great fun. My friend Adrian dressed as Dr. Frank-N-Furter.. and he was a dead ringer for Tim Cury! I swear.. i love that movie more and more each year!
I think I must buy the DVD...it really is great fun.
Of course there is such a day! Now send the invitation and get ready!
I saw the Rocky Horror show when it was showing in the West End in the early '80s I think... I was so disappointed when I saw whathisname without his makeup - so tame! Not that it matters to you but I definitely fancy men in suspenders ;-)
frog: I don't have a decent frock!!
caroline: too much information, methinks. :-)
