I have a personality?

a split personality strolls along the beachI first came across the Advanced Global Personality Test over at Gay Banker's blog then saw it again on Bill's blog who had picked it up from Gay Banker. Online tests are always great fun, particularly those that profess to come up with meaningful insights. So, in the interests of information and incestuous back-scratching, I present you with the results from my test.

split personalityIn summary:
Stability results were high which suggests you are very relaxed, calm, secure, and optimistic..

Orderliness results were low which suggests you are overly flexible, improvised, and fun seeking at the expense too often of reliability, work ethic, and long term accomplishment.

Extraversion results were medium which suggests you are moderately talkative, outgoing, sociable and interacting.

And, finally, my 'trait snapshot':
messy, tough, disorganized, fearless, not rule conscious, likes the unknown, rarely worries, rash, attracted to the counter culture, rarely irritated, positive, resilient, abstract, not a perfectionist, risk taker, strange, weird, self reliant, leisurely, dangerous, anti-authority, trusting, optimistic, positive, thrill seeker, likes bizarre things, sarcastic

Some of the results seem pretty accurate even if not particularly flattering. Some of my readers know me 'in real life' so it would be interesting to hear their verdict on the results.

Handsome, Is that you in the picture? My god! you look like Rhino with hair! Amazing! (that's a compliment of course, in case you wondered). Have just done the test too, embarrassing results for me, especially my being 23% intellectual...

That isn't me but those are my footprints! 23% intellectual? pout less and your score may go up! :-)

Does the picture mean that you are split between being a white man with brown hair and a black man with grey hair? Aaah now I get it!

PS: Sorry if that's not it... you know I'm not very intellectual after all.

I am a gemini and all that entails if you believe all that crap. So none of this racial mixing stuff, thank you!

I'm really amazed that you've revealed all this about yourself ... I'll have a go myself.

I dunno, the survey results are kinda contadictory. I bet you doctored the results!

90% sexuality,
70% intellectual
80% stable
70% artistic

Not that there's anything wrong with that! I modify test results all the time :)

You think you're slick!

How can you be 36% narcissitic yet 63% vain!

And since you are 70% anti-authority, 63% adventurous, only 30% cautious! I wouldn't put it past you :)

I'll leave it at that :)

justin: thanks for thinking that I'm so courageous but I just took it as something fun to do and fun to let readers know about. I'll be interested to read your results.

rhino: how can i doctor results if I'm not a doctor?

Blogger rhino75 said...

errm, I didn't accuse you of doctoring anything - that was Rob!! I think you do pretty well overall, at least you come over as spontaneous and a little bit edgy, while knowing who you are adn what you want - hmmmm, are you absolutely sure you didn't doctor them? I'm going to try it myself!!

9:59 am
Blogger Reluctant Nomad said...

Oops, sorry, rhino! I definitely didn't doctor them unless you call re-doing the test doctoring. I had to re-do it as I lost the results when my PC froze.

It will be interesting to see your results.

This can't be right...according to the test I'm more of a hedonist than you!

I put it to you that you lied.

12:27 pm
Blogger Reluctant Nomad said...

According to their definition of hedonism:

willing to break the law if the monetary benefit is great enough, likes tattoos, likes strip clubs, prone to substance abuse, prone to shoplifting, thinks marijuana should be legalized, not opposed to breaking laws, promiscuous, prone to cheat in relationships, kinky, likes to dress provocatively, believes pleasure should play a central role in life, can be crude, believes religion is foolish, does not worry about consequences of actions, addictive tendencies, more a night person than a day person, erotic, more likely to have been on anti-depressants, gets attention through negative behavior, reckless with money, prone to nihilism, unpredicable, self destructive

Now, there is a lot there that applies to me but a lot that doesn't. The following do NOT apply to me:

willing to break the law if the monetary benefit is great enough, likes tattoos, likes strip clubs, prone to shoplifting, not opposed to breaking laws, kinky (very relative concept, I know), likes to dress provocatively, believes pleasure should play a central role in life, believes religion is foolish, does not worry about consequences of actions, gets attention through negative behaviour.

Do they apply to you?

Here's my trait snapshot:
social, outgoing, worry free, optimistic, upbeat, tough, likes large parties, makes friends easily, rarely irritated, open, enjoys leadership, trusting, dominant, thrill seeker, strong, does not like to be alone, assertive, mind over heart, confident, controlling, feels desirable, likes the spotlight, loves food, social chameleon, hard working, concerned about others

***Believe me, I'm not that great!! But I sound it, don't I??

Blogger Reluctant Nomad said...

It does sound good unless one hones in on a few of the traits mentioned and looks at them in isolation:

Tough, enjoys leadership, dominant, strong, assertive, confident controlling, feels desirable, likes the spotlight.

I wonder if Hitler’s one would have thrown up the same traits? :-)

1:55 pm
Blogger rhino75 said...

:)) in my defence, those very same traits are kind of indispensable for my job. And I'm still "trusting" and "concerned about others" remember - why, I even have a pet!!

As someone who knows you (in the Biblical sense too) I feel that this is quite an accurate account of you. These tests will always throw up the odd result but on the whole it is quite good. I have emailed my test to you - how do we compare ?

oooh Alan, are you one of the stalkers?? That would be TOO COOL!!!!!

Reluctant Nomad...does your gay flag fall under living or working?

2:53 pm
Blogger Reluctant Nomad said...

JP: are you suggesting that I need to work at being gay? Isn't it that obvious that it comes across very naturally even if, sometimes, there is something of a gay nightmare about the whole thing?

But while I don't live exclusively in a gay world, I do occupy a gay space whether it be in the gay, straight or mixed world.

That argument may not convince you but I can't really be arsed to move the flat somewhere else.

I'm interested to see that your non-virtual friends find that the test is rather representative of you. I might be inclined to take it now.

As to your comment on my blog about the word comment thing, I'm always making words out of the verification comment, rather obsessively in fact. Glad to see you do it too. (vvfgxnk - very very fine gunk)

So all these results aside... how do YOU feel that they compare to you? Do you see it as an accurate depiction? And I didn't see anything in there on 'knows what goes well with cheese'... =)

Jeepers Alan. It sounds like some people are ganging up on you. I go away for a couple of weeks and come back to find you being stalked and God only knows what else. Now, now people. Be nice to our Nomad!!!! I must admit that I missed your blog and am so happy to be back. It is going to take me a while to catch up, but I'll get there. All the best for 2006!!!

livewire: I'd say that it was pretty accurate. And, taking the 'trait snapshot' into consideration:

messy, tough, disorganized, fearless, not rule conscious, likes the unknown, rarely worries, rash, attracted to the counter culture, rarely irritated, positive, resilient, abstract, not a perfectionist, risk taker, strange, weird, self reliant, leisurely, dangerous, anti-authority, trusting, optimistic, positive, thrill seeker, likes bizarre things, sarcastic

I agree with all of that apart from:

Under certain circumstances, I'm definitely a perfectionist. And, while I can be positive about things, I have a strong depressive streak that makes me view things in a negative light at times. I tend to cope with that by burying my head in the sand but that doesn't always work.In terms of being attracted to the 'counter culture', that was more true of me in my younger days even though I've always a bit of the 'young old fogey' in me who appreciates old traditions and manners that may not really be appreciated by said counter culture.

The stalker situation isn't really a new one but it got a bit more fraught very recently. I'll survive!
